Terms and conditions
HIRE/DRIVERS LIABILITY
The driver (although not always the hirer also), along with the hirer are bound by all the terms and conditions of this hire agreement and are personally responsible for the entertainment system in the vehicle as it not covered by our insurance. Only persons that have signed and been added to our insurance may drive this vehicle. It is the responsibility of the hirer(s) to ensure no one else takes control of the vehicle.
HIRE PERIOD
A day is 24 hours from the time that you collect the vehicle. The minimum charge is one day.
AGE
The minimum age for hiring is 25 unless otherwise stated by our insurance underwriters and previously checked.
DRIVING LICENCE
A valid licence (plus copy to be retained by Bandwagon) must be produced at the start of every hire, for every driver. In the case of the photo licence both parts must be produced. All drivers must have 2 years driving experience, with no major endorsements. Our insurance company must be notified of all endorsements.
INSURANCE
Your fully comprehensive insurance, which is in addition to the van hire charges, carries an excess of £587.50. In the event of any damage, the hirer must pay the excess. In addition to the UK, the insurance applies to any country that is a member of the European Union with prior notice. This attracts a surcharge per week. Our insurance will not cover theft or damage to hirer’s personal belongings or electronic/musical equipment. All items left and/or stored overnight in the vehicle are left there at the hirer’s own risk. We are not responsible for any loss or damage to the hire’s belongings or equipment at any point, before, during or after the hire period.
EUROPEAN INSURANCE SURCHARGE
A weekly European insurance surcharge will be levied for all vehicles taken to mainland Europe. All European travel must be pre-approved with us and insurance surcharges paid in full before the hire commences.
BREAKDOWN/RECOVERY
All vehicles are covered by The AA in the UK, Northern Ireland. Continental 24hr by The AA must be arranged prior to hire. In the event of a breakdown or accident the hirer must notify us immediately. The hirer must not carry out any repairs to the vehicle whilst on the road without notifying us first. The AA will endeavour to repair the vehicle at the roadside otherwise they will recover the vehicle to the nearest garage for repair. This service will not allow the hirer to continue to their destination and then to a repair centre.
FUEL
We will endeavour to supply the vehicle with a full tank of fuel unless prior arrangements have been made. We request that the vehicle to be returned with the equivalent amount. Any shortfall will be charged and deducted from the deposit. Please note a full tank of fuel is £79.00 as of November 2005. This may vary from time to time.
AVAILABILITY OF VEHICLES
Every effort will be made to supply the vehicle requested. However, we reserve the right to substitute a similar vehicle should it be necessary. We reserve the right to cancel a hire due to unforeseen circumstances, i.e. vehicle damaged or broken down.
ADVANCED BOOKINGS
We recommend that our customers make a reservation by telephone, fax, or email. All bookings must be confirmed by fax or email in advance of the hire.
CANCELLATION
All deposits of £500 will be retained if the hire is cancelled within 7 days of the start of the hire period.
We reserve the right to charge a 50% cancellation charge on any bookings longer than one week that are cancelled within 1 week of the hire (depending on circumstance).
For hires from 1-7 days we reserve that right to charge the full amount of the hire unless the hire is cancelled within 48 hours of the start date.
PAYMENT
Before the rental starts we require the following:
- The total hire charge to cover the hire period. We accept all major credit/debit cards.
- A deposit of £587.50 by way of cleared cheque funds or credit/debit card/cash to cover the insurance excess. The deposit will be returned 14 days after the end of the hire period assuming the vehicle is returned in the same condition as issued and no fines have been incurred during the hire.
- All hire charge are subject to VAT.
- If we supply the driver then the deposit is not necessary as all of our permanent drivers are fully insured.
- If you envisage the possible need of an additional driver during the hire then we must be informed prior to the hire date.
PAYMENT METHODS
Payment may be made by cash, bank transfer, BACS payment, bank draft, personal or business cheque or by prearranged credit account. All cheques, including the deposit, must clear before the start of the hire period. We also accept all major credit cards and debit cards.
EXTENSION OF RENTALS
It is important if you wish to extend the hire period you contact out office before the end of the original hire period. Any extensions must be paid in advance.
OIL/WATER/TYRES
The hirer is responsible for maintaining the correct levels of oil and water during the hirer period. Any damage caused by failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the deposit. Any tyre or wheel damage is also the hirer’s responsibility and will also de deducted from the deposit. The AA will change a tyre for a serviceable spare only.
DELIVERY/COLLECTION OF THE VANS
Delivery and collection may be made by prior arrangement and will be subject to a surcharge, depending on location.
CLEANING SURCHARGE
A £65 surcharge will be levied if the vehicle is not returned in the clean and appropriate state in which it was delivered.
LATE CHARGE
If the vehicle is returned later than the previously agreed time and date, and additional day’s hire will be charged. You will also be charged for any lose of hire Bandwagon incurs unless prearranged.
CD PLAYER/DVD PLAYER/S/PLAYSTATION
The hirer is responsible for the face-off CD player while the vehicle is in their possession. If the CD Player or Playstation unit is stolen, the hirer is responsible for its replacement plus the repair of any damage caused to the vehicle during robbery (i.e. damaged windows, damage to dash and locks). These costs will be deducted from the £587.50 deposit. If the costs are higher than the £587.50 the hirer(s) will be responsible for the difference.
ENGINE DAMAGE
If the engine of the vehicle is damaged or destroyed whilst in the possession of the hirer and said damage is a direct result of negligence on behalf of the hirer (which will be established by an independent source), the hirer will be responsible for the full cost of repairing the damage or a replacement engine.
FINES AND CHARGES
The hirer is responsible for all speeding and parking fines, including the congestion charge and fines resulting in non-payment of said charges and fines. These charges will be deducted from the deposit.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Bandwagon do not accept any responsibility for ANY financial loss as a result of vehicle failure or punctures. Any financial loss incurred will be the responsibility of the hirers.
